Samantha

Note: Sam will begin seeing clients the week of June 3, 2024

Samantha has over a decade of experience providing emotional and practical support to children and adults through community- and school-based programs. Samantha’s years of work with children have equipped her with an understanding of just how formative those early childhood years are, and that the need of every child and adult alike is: to be seen, heard, and understood.

I like to think of therapy as a unique holding space. First, it is a space to be seen, heard, and known: I desire to be an empathetic witness to those experiences that have shaped you. My aim is to extend compassionate curiosity about the ways you have learned to be in your body, mind, and relationships. Second, it is a space to find safety, tools, and support: As a trauma-informed therapist, I desire for you to feel safe and resourced. I want to equip you with tools to know how to better cope with what feels overwhelming. Finally, it is a space for the healing power of meaningful connection to grow: connection within the therapeutic relationship and connection with your own body, emotions, and self. Relationships may harm us, but relationships can also heal us. While trauma may change us, I believe that healing can change us, too. We may not be able to change the past, but we can together grow your capacity to experience the hope, meaning, and connection needed to live forward.

In her free time, you can find Samantha outside, chasing her young son, or sitting around a table with friends and family. Samantha equally enjoys time spent with good company or alone with a good cup of coffee.

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witnesse.”

-Peter Levine
