"I believe to sit with another’s story is sacred trust. We do not come to therapy because we are broken—we come because we are human. Within the tender places of motherhood, the unspoken ache of family, and the quiet struggles of the self, there is a strength waiting to rise. My calling is to hold space for that strength, to remind you of your wholeness, and to walk
beside you as you step fully into the life that has always been yours."

Janita is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) practicing in Illinois and Georgia, specializing in perinatal mental health and family systems therapy. She works with individuals and families through life’s transitions—whether navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood, managing trauma, or working through the complexities of family dynamics.

Janita earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Chicago, where she focused on social entrepreneurship. Since 2017, her clinical experience has included outpatient mental health, HIV behavioral mental health counseling, crisis counseling, family therapy, and perinatal and maternal health care. These diverse experiences shape her collaborative, strengths-based approach to therapy—one that honors both individual healing and family connection.

In her work with families, Janita helps clients learn to communicate more effectively, deepen emotional understanding, and repair relational wounds. She supports parents, siblings, and caregivers as they navigate shifting roles, intergenerational trauma, and the everyday realities of parenting and caregiving.

With particular expertise in the perinatal experience, Janita offers compassionate support around anxiety, depression, identity shifts, breastfeeding challenges, parenting multiples, and pregnancy or parenting while living with HIV. She works to ensure mothers and families feel truly seen, supported, and equipped with practical tools to manage change.

Her therapeutic style integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and Mindfulness. She creates a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, heal from pain, and move toward meaningful growth. Motivated by her own journey of healing, Janita is passionate about helping others live fuller, more connected lives. She believes therapy can be a powerful space for clarity, empowerment, and transformation—not only for individuals, but for families as a whole.

Outside the therapy room, Janita enjoys spending time with her husband and children, traveling, practicing mindfulness, and exploring cultural traditions that celebrate wellness and maternal mental health.
