A New Year Reflection Guide

As the new year kicks off, many of us may set resolutions, goals, words for the year, or reflect on the past year. Our team at Steady Hope wanted to provide a few reflection questions for journaling prompts to support you in considering this next year.

There is no pressure to use a guide like this or take intentional time to reflect; however, one value of taking at least some time to reflect is that it helps us become more “active participants in our lives.” Exploring and reflecting may help provide some direction or insight into changes you would like to make.

When you spend time reflecting, think about what you want for yourself spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, professionally, and financially.

  1. What would I like to have happen in my life this year?

  2. What would I like to do or to accomplish (little and big things)?

  3. What good would I like to attract into my life?

  4. What particular areas of growth would I like to have happen to me?

  5. What things about myself would I like to gain more understanding or change?

  6. What values do I want to guide me this year?

  7. What would I like to have happen in friendship and love?

  8. What would I like to have happen in my family life?

  9. What would I like to pursue or consider professionally this next year?

  10. Are there any practices spiritually that I want to consider adding or shifting this next year?

  11. Are there any hopes that I have to care for my body?

  12. What would I like to focus on financially this next year?

We would encourage you to take some time on your own to reflect, but, then, consider inviting your therapist or a trusted friend into the process. Our team would love to support you as you reflect and look forward in 2023.
